Hing Terminology
LENGTH
The length of the leaves measured parallel to the pin

WIDTH OPEN
The overall dimension of leaves measured across the pin

PIN
The rod running the length of the hinge. The pin holds the leaves of the hinge together

KNUCKLE
The hollow circular part at the joint of the hinge through which a pin is passed

KNUCKLE LENGTH
The nominal or typical dimension of the knuckle measured parallel to the pin

PAINT CLEARANCE
The dimension between the outer face of the knuckle and the opposing edge of the leaf cut-out over the entire range of rotation

LEAF WIDTH
The dimension from the centre of the pin to the outer edge of the leaf

END PLAY
The amount of axial movement between leaves

Continuous hinges are all stocked in standard assembly only. All the other options are made to order
the width of the hinge is increased slightly when swaged.

LEAF STYLES

STANDARD ASSEMBLY
Leave stay flat in the same plane in a open position.
REVERSE ASSEMBLY
Opposing leaves extend laterally from opposite sides of the pin in the open position. Leaves will not close to parallel position.
UNEQUAL LEAVES
One leaf is a different width than the other, measured from the centre of the pin.
ONE LEAF HALF SWAGED
Leave stay flat in the same plane in a open position.

BOTH LEAVES HALF SWAGED
Both leaves swaged approximately one half the pin diameter.
ONE LEAF FULLY SWAGED
One leaf swaged equal to the pin diameter and both leaves parallel when in closed position.
ONE LEAF REVERSED SWAGED
One leaf swaged to simulate reversed assembly. Leaves will not close to parallel position.
OFFSET
Forming of one or both leaves to provide more clearance between the leaves in closed position.
